Why is Fox Smoked Fish better than other smoked fish?
Our fish is smoked in small batches using all natural ingredients without any preservatives. Our fish is not vacuum-packed in plastic. After smoking it is air cooled and packed in wax paper. The result is a fresher product with superior flavor and texture.  These days it is nearly impossible to find smoked fish that is not vacuum-packed.

Does Smoked Fish need to be refrigerated? 
YES, open your package and refrigerate immediately until it is consumed

What is the shelf life of the smoked fish?
It should be consumed within 7 Days upon receipt.

How long can smoked fish safely sit at room temperature?
When serving smoked fish, do not allow it to remain at room temperature for more than three hours.

Is it O.K. to freeze smoked fish? Freezing smoked fish is not recommended, as it adversely affects the quality of the product, causing the fish to lose color, moisture and texture. However, if you do freeze the fish it should be thawed in a refrigerator and consumed within 1 day.

How does the smoked fish stay cold during shipping?
It is packed in a Styrofoam container with ice packs.

Is your smoked fish “Hot Smoked” or “Cold Smoked”?  What is the difference?
All of our products are Hot Smoked with the exception of the Cold Smoked Salmon.
There are two smoking processes – cold smoked and hot smoked. Salmon – or Nova -- is the most popular cold smoked fish. In the cold smoking process, the fish are smoked over wood chips at temperatures around 72°F for durations ranging from 8 to 24 hours.
Hot smoked fish, including mackerel, bluefish, salmon, are essentially baked until they reach internal temperatures in the range of 145°F. The result is a moist, flaky, fish with a smoky flavor.

Do you sell smoked fish wholesale or in bulk quantities?
Yes. We will sell smoked fish in bulk for a substantial discount. Please call for details. 401-783-4646. Orders must be 20 lbs or more.

When will my order be shipped and what will it cost?

  • All orders received Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday by 2PM, will be shipped from our facility the same day. Orders received after 2PM will be shipped the following day.
  • All orders received Thursday after 2PM, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be shipped from our facility on Monday.
  • For orders over 21 lbs., please contact our office at 401-783-4646 for discounted pricing and shipping rates.
  • All shipments will arrive within 1-2 days.
